Having not upgraded Severn Oak Timber Frames Ltd website for almost five years, we decided it was time to update “old faithful”. The two main reasons for this were to showcase our most recently completed timber frame builds in Shropshire and also to ensure that our website viewed correctly on tablets and mobile phones.

Having researched the local market for a slick and savvy web designer, we instructed the help of Key 3 Media. The primary objective for Key 3 Media was to design an image-driven site that would capture what our well-established family-run business is all about. It also needed to clearly identify the design and construction services we provide and emphasise the company ethos – which is to create beautifully designed bespoke oak timber frame structures to suit our clients’ requirements and of course budget.

An additional brief to Key 3 Media was to ensure that the site would be simple to navigate because of course we want to ensure that all our potential clients can find exactly what they are looking for, whether that is a full house build, extension, garden room or garage.

The next stage was Wil, who is a great photographer, going back to previous clients’ completed projects to grab some much needed images. This was obviously dependent on the sun coming out, which proved to take somewhat longer than expected! Revisiting previous clients is always a pleasure and Wil said that he was greeted with smiles and praise from every project that he returned to. With one client commenting that it was the best thing her and her husband had ever bought! Another client paid a gardener to water their plants while they were in the States as they wanted to make sure that the garden was looking suitably verdant on the day of the photograph.

“It was a real delight visiting these previous projects and hearing such positive praise for all our team and clients interest in how they fared,” commented Wil.

What I found the most difficult part of the process was choosing from the many amazing pictures, due to the diversity and creativity of Severn Oak’s building projects in Shropshire. I felt the best approach would be to illustrate the bespoke nature of what we do. It is this that sets us apart from the “off the shelf” style structures that are in the market place. Many of our designs have details and features that we have not seen on any other buildings, which I feel really differentiates us from many of our competitors.

The proof of course is in the pudding. Wil and I are delighted to launch what we feel is a fantastic fresh new website. We are already having great feedback form those who have viewed it and I hope that you, the reader, agree.
